Baby Shower

As told by John Barros:

Just got in from a wonderful evening… St. Andrews threw such an awesome baby shower for Chris and Heather, a couple that chose life.10373515_10204109055835030_4039185472117202804_n  I am completely blown away by the Goodness of God.  He has completely turned their lives around.  This Church has wrapped them in a blanket of love like I have never seen.  The party was cool.. they had games where people tried to draw a picture on a plate on their head, and the guys had a, “who can drink a bottle the fastest” contest. 10456015_10204109054514997_904486698587974331_n Cannot believe how fun it was.  Those of you that have been praying for them from the beginning thank you, and please keep it up.  A big thank you to Ted and Sheryl Stiemann for opening their home to a massive crowd. 10350615_10204109054835005_2544732502326073047_n.

Dark Days

As told by John Barros:

Today was awful.  It wasn’t all that different than most but there was one exception: a young lady came down here for an abortion that had come here over a year ago for an abortion but chose life.  She told me she wasn’t going to listen this time.  A dear young lady, Tani, and I begged her all afternoon. 10401341_10204099151267422_1962117452844477478_n I walked with her all the way to the train station and back offering her the hope there is in Jesus.  I was even able to find her a place to live for her and the baby she had chosen life for a year ago.  She sat on the porch joking and mocking with the rest of the people until they called her in…. a short time later a worker literally drug her to the door and her two friends drug her across the grass to the car, buckling under her weight dropping to the ground as she moaned.  These are the encounters that rip my guts out and haunt my dreams.  When you get so entwined in their lives and have it end like this is awful… I am so thankful that God sent Tani today.  This young lady ministers by herself most of the time in front of an abortion clinic in Atlanta.  What a trooper with a vast knowledge of Scripture and a heart filled with Christ’s love for people.  So thankful she was here today.  10418183_10204099152427451_1757553193587569979_n.

Cold, Hard Hearts

As told by John Barros:

Today had to come under the How Cold And Hard Is Man’s Heart file. This afternoon was totally insane. The place was very busy with about a dozen in the morning and then there was another group at noon of about the same.

It was a battle with preaching going on all day long. Bradley Spruill, Nicole Sobers, and myself were here. Many of the people became like ravenous wolves; mocking God, cursing, and showing how much they really hated God. There was a guy who claimed to be a druid, running around helping people get in and arguing with every scripture that was presented. He would go inside and comfort people who were coming under conviction.

But then one of the craziest things I have ever seen happened. There was a young lady who was injured during her operation at EPOC, James Pendergraft’s other abortion clinic in Orlando. The abortionist at EPOC sent her over here to have Randal Whitney fix her. They were mad at first and went to the emergency room, but then believe it or not left and came over here. I was begging them to go back to the ER but they wouldn’t and then joined with the druid and all the mockers, cursing, screaming and cheering those who completed their abortions.

Nicole and I were truly stunned. How could someone come from one abortion clinic injured, go to another and hear the record of OWC, and refuse help from people who truly care about them? Not only that, but then turn on those people wanting to help. Today reminded me of maybe a taste of the people trying to get the angels at Lot’s house. It was so vile.

But God who is rich in mercy works even in the darkest situations. When it is so dark, you see the brightness of His glory when He turns the heart and opens eyes and ears. A young lady named Destiny came in a car to have an abortion. You could see God was already working on her. She got out, went in, and came out. I was able to speak with her a little and told her God is able. She got in the car and was arguing with those in the car. They called inside and asked someone to come out and talk to them. A worker came out and talked, but Destiny held firm. She thanked us and prayed with us. It was to late to get to the CPC today so will either be going to First Life tomorrow or Choices on Monday.

Then in the height of the mocking of God and the druid screaming that God’s word doesn’t do anything, Shankara came out under conviction. She asked what she should do. Nicole and I were able to help her. We had a great time of prayer and she left and will also be at a CPC either tomorrow or Monday.

I wish you all could have seen the faces. The faces of sweet surrender on the ones who chose life, and the faces of the angry druid and his gang. There is no bigger contrast.Thank you for praying; please continue!.

You Just Never Know

As told by John Barros:

Sometimes you just never know… I spoke with a precious lady from a local crisis pregnancy center tonight. A young lady came to OWC and told us she was here for a pregnancy test. We spoke with her and she went to the CPC. It turns out she was in fact abortion-minded and has chosen life. And another young lady who was a turn away yesterday went there too and has chosen life! I am so thankful for godly women who point ladies to Jesus.

I was also extremely blessed to meet a dear Facebook friend and her family. Ash is such a blessing. She has been such an encouragement over the years and now Ash and a team of other ladies get items together for blessing bags for the ladies who choose life. She came down from Tallahassee on a work trip with her husband and brought new supplies.

I am so thankful for friends who come by when they come to Orlando. Please continue to pray..

Reflection

As told by John Barros:

It was a very strange day at OWC today.  No late term moms showed, and there were eight employees and an abortionist for four ladies.  One young lady chose life but seemed rather confused…Please pray she stays strong.  Today gave me a lot of time for reflection.  I’m going to be sixty this month, and I have been looking back over my life and see so much sin.  Sin has caused so much pain and death in my own life, and I am surrounded by it every day down here.  These babies die as a result of their parents sin… They become a part of the wages their parents earn.  Fornication and ultimately abortion causes so much death, not just the baby but the parents and other family members and friends. It is not a choice, it is out and out destruction.  Family members beg me to never leave because of their sister, daughter, or girlfriend that committed suicide over the abortion they had. Even when it’s slow down here I guess it’s busy… Thank God for time to think and to realize that the only difference in these folks and me is that in His great mercy and grace He called me to Himself. A verse that has been in my mind lately is Romans 6:23, which says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Please pray for revival.  It’s truly the only answer.10434200_10204001597908649_3009438792462801471_n.

Many Conversations

As told by John Barros:

OWC was pretty darn busy for a Monday. God showed mercy on two families and brought them out. Bradley and I were able to have many conversations as it takes forever for the abortionist to get there on Mondays.

There was another cool story as well: over a year ago, Darby Stouffer came down here to help. As I was preaching Darby took her hymnal out and began walking along the sidewalk and down the back singing. She went back and sang How Great Thou Art for our dear friend Dr. Collins next door. I could hear that precious voice wafting up the driveway. About half an hour later a lady came out crying and with a loud voice asked, “Who sang that hymn?” Darby raised her hand and softly answered, “I did.” Sherry came down the steps at a rapid pace and I thought there was going to be trouble. Far from it. Sherry grabbed Darby in a massive bear hug and with tears pouring down her face said over and over again, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Sherry began to tell us that over a year earlier she had lost her husband and the night of her husband’s funeral she lost her mother. This plunged her into a deep depression she couldn’t shake. Sherry said she was sitting in the exam room in Dr. Collins’ office and heard the most beautiful voice coming through the window singing her husband’s favorite hymn. She said a light came on in her heart.

All that to say Sherry came back today. She is like a different person. She hung out with me and Bradley, asking questions about the ministry here and how this all works. I am sure she will be back to help. And of course Sherry wanted once again to tell Darby “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

God moves in a powerful way

As told by John Barros:

God moved in a powerful way today… I am trying to recover.  We had three choose life, two ladies leave- and I’m almost positive they will be keeping their babies- and another sweet young lady go to “Life For Kids” to begin the process of giving the ultimate gift of a baby to someone that cannot have one of their own.  There were fifteen or more ladies that came to kill their babies today.  They were huddled in fear around the back and inside. 10413354_10203963602998800_6805361985942391038_n  Most would not listen and would only mock… My reformed friends may not believe what I am going to say but that’s ok.  As everyone was arriving a other and daughter arrived. The mother began cursing at Bradley.  I looked at them and the man that drove them and just knew that they were not going to go through with it.  As the man, John, began to take off I told him, “John, don’t go very far because you will be back in a half hour.”   The young lady, Jessica, and her mother said that they had to do this, because Jessica couldn’t take care of the kids she has now, let alone another one.  I asked her if she would let anyone kill either of her other two kids, and she said no and they then went inside…Ten minutes later Jessica comes out straight at me at a speed I thought may cause me some bodily harm!  She comes over and says this can’t be a baby yet.  I asked her to sit on the wall and we went through her situation and shared how God is bigger than any situation. 10259880_10203963603838821_4562528730431036234_n While we are talking she begins reading Ray Comforts tract “In The Womb.”  She turns the page to see a picture of an 8-12 week baby, bursts into tears and yells, “I can’t do this!”   Her mother was still trying to talk her into it but The Lord intervened… It was so beautiful!  They called John to come get them.  It was over in thirty minutes but it took him longer than that to get back.   He smiled, thanked us and shook my hand.  He said, “You won!”  I said no, and told him it was Jesus and Jessica who won.  He wants to go talk with me about this so pray he will, and please pray for Jessica and her Mother, they are next to being homeless. Later two ladies came and were met by Tanner and Tracey.  Alicia and Sarah came over to see what they had to say.  I’ve only seen this once before: both ladies were pregnant and coming together for abortions. They went from saying they were there for birth control to admitting they were having abortions. 10405604_10203963604678842_5637988747147077510_n Tracey loved on them like only she can do, gave them all the information she could, and they asked for prayer.  We prayed with them and they went to First Life.  I’ve probably written to long already,  but there are so many more stories just from today… Even my dear friend Paula stopped by to encourage!   Paula and her husband Dave Risler have faithfully been coming here for years on Saturday mornings.  Please go to the abortion clinics in your town and watch what God will do… Nothing like it..

Deer in the Headlights

As told by John Barros:

It was a strangely slow day today at OWC. Only four showed up for abortions, but there were still those in their second day of labor. The parents who pressured their young daughter yesterday did not have the same look today. They had that “deer in the headlights” look. I can’t imagine what that young girl is going through inside that horrible place.

Dear Lauren Blessing came by with her awesome young man Mason to help. She actually took Mason down to the back parking lot to show a couple what a blessing her son has been to her.

A lady who usually serves at Planned Parenthood, Joanne, came by for a while and ol’ faithful Donna was here with me and Bradley.

Chris and Heather Grant came by to tell us how God has been blessing them.

And then believe it or not another young lady named Tracy came by. She is in a really bad set of circumstances right now and is choosing life for her baby and is going with me to Life For Kids tomorrow. Please pray for her. We had a time of sharing the gospel, prayer, and I gave her a Bible. Pray that God would draw her near and deliver her from the situation she is in..

Slower Than Usual

As told by John Barros:

Thank God it was slower than usual down here today, but late-term days are always crazy. We had people from many far-away places.

One from Pensacola, one from Indiana, and one from Kentucky. One grandfather brought his granddaughter here to kill his great-grandson. A couple brought their daughter from Kentucky to kill their granddaughter. Their daughter put up a fight but her parents were relentless.

A couple were referred from a doctor in Indiana to come all the way here to kill their hydro skelatal baby. It was so sad. I prayed with them and tried to let God take the life but they wouldn’t do it. He even had a ratio on his side about their baby.

There were some high points, though. One lady chose life. R.C. Sproul, Jr. came down to serve with us. R.C. has such a sensitive heart and cries out with great passion and truth. I hope to grow up and be a tenth of the man he is.

David and Mandy King from Lexington are down here on vacation and brought their family by to help. What a wonderful family they are. Their son Noah has such zeal. He told me he wasn’t leaving till someone else comes out!

A Young Lady Chooses Life

As told by John Barros:

Prayers would be greatly appreciated. A young lady I have been speaking with, Marah, is doing a wonderful thing and choosing life for her baby. She realizes she cannot give her baby what it needs and is going to give the ultimate gift: she is going to place her baby with another adoptive family. Please pray she stays strong and that the Lord guides her way. We are going to an agency tomorrow afternoon.

Update (5/28): I know many of you have been praying for Marah, but her name is really Taylor. I took her to Life For Kids this afternoon to begin the adoption process. I must say I am hugely impressed. What an awesome bunch. Mary, Mandy, and the staff are incredible. I got to go through the process with Taylor. She is going to find a family for her baby. Taylor really wants everyone’s prayers. She is such a brave young lady. We went through the gospel and gave her a new study Bible. She is going to begin coming to Saint Andrew’s in another week. Please continue to lift her up to our Father..
