Beautiful and Ugly

As told by John Barros:

Today was so beautiful and ugly at the same time. God brought so many people in the morning. There were regulars, old friends, and new friends. I wish I could tag everyone and tell all the stories but it would take days.

Four ladies chose life today. One was a Haitian couple who could only speak French. Mary got here in time and preached into the building in French. They came out and chose life. They went to First Life and found out she wasn’t pregnant. OWC told her she was and they were going to give her an abortion. I wonder how often this happens.

There was a dad who brought his two daughters. Samantha was 17 and pregnant. Her younger sister Shannon was immediately convicted and the battle for her sister and niece began about 8:00. We prayed with Shannon and called out to her dad and sister. The girls kept coming in and out wrestling with their position. Their inept dad would not do or say anything. To make a long story short, Samantha decided to go through with it but once on the table she jumped up and bolted out. She chose life. Her dad came out finally and they drove away. We were ecstatic and praising God. However a half hour later they were back because something was wrong. It turns out she had received a shot that was causing her to dilate. They wanted the baby so had me call the hospital. The ER nurse at Winnie Palmer told me this could not be reversed. She sat in the truck alone for well over another hour sobbing but then went in at 3:00 and was out at 4:00. I understand depravity but when you see a dad do nothing to help his daughter it is insane. I can’t begin to tell you how exhausting this type of battle is.

I am so thankful he sent Leslie Hanks down from Denver today. She was such a blessing to me and the kids who were left. She has been doing this a long time.  Then Dr. Pendergraft came and walked into the back door by walking backward while a worker hid him behind trash bags. I can’t wait to worship this Lord’s Day..

Dark But Wonderful

As told by John Barros:

The last couple of days have been slow but very busy. Dark but wonderful; such is life on the sidewalk. I got to see an amazing work of God today. After preaching I really had a burden to pray for a young couple inside. I sat on the wall with Tracey and Dianne and began praying. While we were in the middle of prayer the door opened and out they came. Tracey ran to them and she was told with a beaming smile that they had chosen life and didn’t need any help as she had her own doctor.

There was another couple who spoke only French, but God “just happened” to have Mary, a sidewalk counselor from West Virginia who speaks French, show up. She spoke to the couple. They said they were going to try the CPC but would probably be back tomorrow.

Another young lady came for an abortion but her friend stayed in the car. Tracey spoke to her and she began texting her friend inside. Her friend came out three times and finally left but don’t know if she may come back.

A lady saw us all on the sidewalk and stopped for literature and prayer for her daughter who was considering abortion.

There was a very sad family here. A husband actually said that all life is the same in front of his five year old son; that his son was equal in value to a cow. He had no qualms talking about killing his son’s brother or sister right in front of him. Then while I was preaching he kept yelling out the window “Pharisee! Pharisee! Pharisee!” His wife came so close to leaving but she went through with it.

Tracey was able to have a lengthy conversation with Taria, the director of Pendergraft’s abortion mills. Please pray the seeds planted would grow.

It was old and new friend week. Daniel Howell’s amazing wife Brittany stopped by with her boys to help. Sweet Savannah Brenyo was here. The Stouffer family had driven all night from Tennessee on their way to a wedding this weekend, but they wanted to come by to help and encourage.

The Lord really blessed by sending Matthew Tringali and Diane all the way from Utica, New York to come serve here for a couple of days. Matthew is a very bold servant of our King. Diane is a giant heart with feet. They serve in front of a Planned Parenthood in Utica where they cannot get near the people, an extremely difficult ministry. I don’t know how but I fell in love with this brother. I would say I fell in love with Diane too, but people would talk. Please pray for these two and for the people who left today.

Saint Patrick’s Day

As told by John Barros:

Thank you all for praying. God did amazing work in the hearts of some people today. Wendy came this morning but thankfully came over and talked. She allowed me to pray for her. She went in anyway, but halfway through the preaching she came out sobbing saying she was choosing life. I gave her a postcard with local crisis pregnancy centers on it and she left.

Later I met Heather and Chris. They were very confused and needed help. I took them to First Life and when we got inside saw Wendy who had gone and gotten her husband. It turns out he did not want her to have an abortion. The staff got them plugged in and they are so thankful. Heather went through the counseling and when it was time for the ultrasound they invited me in. I have only been to a few of these so it is very exciting for me. Turns out their baby is a girl, 23 weeks.

Tomorrow I am taking them to a pastor at First Baptist. They responded well to the gospel and want to repent. They see their need for Jesus.

I got to see Laurey Nelson’s beautiful young man thinking he was Saint Patrick. 🙂

Rick and Alisi Metschke came down before going home to Nebraska. R.C. Sproul, Jr. told them to “come hang with Shrek”. They want to do this type of ministry in Nebraska. They had been at the Ligonier Ministries national conference this weekend. It was a wonderful day. All the people in this post are requesting that you pray for them. God is so good..

Sunday

As told by John Barros:

I pick people up from the clinic on Sunday mornings and take them to church. This morning was kind of tough because I noticed a car out front from Virginia. I drove around back and saw Dr. James Pendergraft was there with his assistant.

I really don’t know if they were doing a private late-term abortion or not, but it was hard to clear my mind for worship. They were still there when I returned four hours later.

All I can say is thank God for Sunday evening services and the Lord’s table. Please continue to pray for the end of this evil place..

Blessed

As told by John Barros:

Thank you for praying. God showed Himself graceful and merciful this morning. He turned the hearts of two young ladies and two guys became men. Hishimiko’s father brought her. Trisha’s boyfriend brought her. God called out to them and all of them left to get the help they need.

God blessed us by bringing Jennifer Toor and her father back down. They have such a love for God and their neighbors. My pastor Burk Parsons came down to encourage us. This week Rusty came back and a new friend Cody. Jesus turned the hearts of several ladies this week and we are thankful.

It is sad though in a way for me; Darby Sproul came down to serve for the last time before she gets married next Saturday and begins to minister in Arkansas. We are going to miss her deeply.

Our Ultimate Purpose

As told by John Barros:

My pastor Burk Parsons preached on our ultimate purpose yesterday. He told us how our reason for existence, right at this point in history, is to glorify God. Today we got to see God glorified.

In the morning we got to see Him turn two away and a third choose life.

Then this afternoon God sent John and Jasmine over from the other abortion clinic. They first told us that they were here for birth control. Cody began to talk to them about this and included the gospel. As time went on they felt convicted and God showed them their need to repent. Jasmine said they had really come for an abortion. Cody shared very clearly where they stood and what they needed to do. They were given Gospel materials, contact information, and a bible. We had a time of prayer and off they went. They are going to go to Choices. Please pray for them; they are in a rough spot and have two other children. They left believing God would supply all their needs.

My Facebook friends Cody and Kimberly are becoming very dear friends. They are such an awesome family. God also blessed by sending Jason Karroll down to encourage; and Matthew, Kelly, Evin, and Logan Clinger came by. It was truly a blessed day. God’s Word went forth, did its work, and He was glorified. Thanks for praying..

God Showing Himself

As told by John Barros:

God showed Himself in power and grace today. Three young ladies chose life.

One in such a sweet way: He used Abigail, Beth, and Sarah to minister to Mia. Her husband Greg stood beside her. Greg and Mia see a need to get right with God and have asked for help in finding a church where they live in Melbourne.

God also touched the heart of a young lady named Juanita. Mia and Juanita both went to Choices; Daria Monroe, Callie Caraballo, and the rest of that team began them on a road to help.

There were so many conversations today. The RBC students were busy all day with their apologetics skills. R.C. Sproul, Jr. came down and labored. It is always a very special day when he comes down. He is such a preacher and encourager.

Then Mary and Mandy from Life For Kids came down to help. I am so thankful for Bradley, Andrew, and Zachary Johnson. What an awesome end to a tough week. Our God reigns..

A Hard Day at the Pit

As told by John Barros:

It was a cold, hard rainy day down at the pit today. There were two who came for abortions and I believe six late-term moms in their second day of labor.

I actually had to call the police on one of the guys inside. He came up to Bryan McDaniel and told him “I am really with you guys and am going to take care of this place. If you would like to see how, be here Monday with your cameras.” We hate abortion, but…

The guys tried to sing hymns but I will be glad when the girls get back. Bradley Spruill and Bryan were back, and Isaac George as well. Patrick Steckbeck came down for his first time and preached.

It was very difficult today and we were all overcome with sadness as they picked up two huge boxes of dead babies.

Please pray that the seeds sown will take root..

Stories

As told by John Barros:

What a crazy day. There were so many stories. Only one left, but hopefully God’s Word will burn on their hearts and bring them to repentance.

Some wonderful people came down to serve: Beth Kee, and dear Facebook friends Cody and Kimberly May came all the way from Connecticut to serve.

A young lady who chose life five months ago came back. Brittani had a little girl named Karma, and she wanted to hear the gospel again. I gave her a bible and she wants to come to Saint Andrew’s with me on Sunday.

Tracey came back; she is such a blessing, not only to the people coming here but all of us as well. We are all so honored to have her here with us. The RBC kids worked tirelessly. Thank you all for praying. Please continue..
